Hey Colonial Family!
We're excited to be back with you tomorrow! But there's a lot to catch up on with changes due to weather, plus the fact that most of us have asked the person standing next to us ATLEAST 10 times... "What day is it?" So let's dive in!
PARKING LOT AND SIDEWALK SAFETY
That storm was somethin, right? I, for one, am ready to be out of the house and back to normal. Or so I thought, until I took a little spill in the parking lot yesterday after chanting to my husband, "BE CAREFUL! IT'S SLICK!" But, I hope I'm the only one as a group of God's Winter Calvary showed up yesterday and broke up the ice, shoveled snow(?), and salted the paths to get everything safer for your arrival tomorrow! And a super big thank you to an old friend that stopped by to skid steer what he could to clear our parking lots until it over heated.... in the ice...? ANYWHO! It's looking much better out there.
So, for our yearly reminder that comes after the ONE winter event we receive..
Take careful steps
Watch for black ice
And be mindful to park in clear areas!
CHILI COOK-OFF IS TOMORROW
If you are bringing Chili to the Battle to be the NEXT CHILI CHAMPION, I would suggest utilizing parking lot B, located off Maplewood, between our Main Building and Building 242. That will line you up very well to enter the cafe with as small a journey as possible.
If you are NOT bringing Chili, PLEASE ARRIVE HUNGRY! I have heard on great authority that some chili has already been brewing, so it's promising to be a GREAT CHILI WAR!
*Come To The Table is FREE
SOUPer BOWL ENDS NEXT WEEK - FEB 8TH
Times have been hard for a lot of the ministries trying to help our communities. BUT YOU CAN HELP!
Our Colonial Church Food Pantry could use canned soups to fill their shelves. And to make the Soup Drive fun, in true Texas fashion, we put a competitive spin on it! Choose the team buggy YOU THINK will win the Super Bowl next Sunday and if you choose the right team you get the GRAND PRIZE of bragging rights and the knowledge that you helped a family in need.
*Drop-Off zones are in the Cafe and the Lobby
DNOW IS NEXT WEEKEND - FEB 6TH-8TH
Ready to get your teen(s) out of the house for the weekend with the knowledge that they are safe and growing closer to God? Look no further than Disciple-Now Weekend! Our students will be spending the weekend at Camp Chaparral worshipping, diving into God's word, connecting through challenging conversation, and having fun while building relationships with other teens that have the same goal - growing closer to God through times of stress, anxiety, temptation, and insecurity - all things that teens are battling today.
Register your teens in the Colonial Church App!
GROUPS AND SERVE FAIR - FEB 8TH & 15TH
If you're trying to grow in your faith alone, let us help you! We are not meant to do this alone, but in connection and community with other God-Fearing followers of Christ.
God designed us to grow in community and to serve one another with the gifts He has given us. Our Life Groups & Serve Fair is an opportunity to discover where you can belong and how you can live out your calling within the body of Christ.
Scripture reminds us, “For just as the body is one and has many parts… so also is Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:12, CSB), and “Each person should use whatever gift he has received to serve others” (1 Peter 4:10, CSB). Come explore Life Groups and serving opportunities, meet leaders, ask questions, and prayerfully consider where God may be inviting you to connect and serve.
There is a place for you, and your obedience could bless many.
IN CLOSING (Of this update! Not the campus...)
If you stuck it out until the end, I appreciate your dedication to knowing all that's happening at Colonial! However, to truly know ALL that's happening at Colonial, an email will never suffice!
So join us tomorrow back at Church, walk the halls, talk to someone you haven't seen since Antarctica migrated through the Falls, have a coffee from your Favorite Coffee Bar to see the new February specials (spoilers: I hope you LOVE strawberries and chocolate!), eat WAY TOO MUCH chili and vote for the best, WORSHIP GOD with a FIERCENESS that our Father has described in scripture, take tedious notes as we hit Part 4 of our series: Christianese: The Language of Faith, and do what your heart has been probably trying to tell you for awhile... Come back Home.
