A Covenant Family

At Colonial, we see church membership as more than signing a card or joining a roster—it’s about becoming part of a covenant family. Membership is our way of saying, “I belong here, and I want to grow in Christ alongside these people.”

Being part of a church isn’t just about attending—it’s about belonging to a family of faith. The Bible shows us that following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. Membership makes that belonging visible and intentional: a shared commitment to grow in Christ together.

And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, but encouraging each other
— Hebrews 10:24-25, CSB

At Colonial, membership matters because:

  • It shows the Gospel — our unity displays Christ’s work of reconciliation (Eph. 2:19).

  • It’s biblical — the New Testament church counted and cared for its members (Acts 2:41).

  • It grounds discipleship — commands like love one another and pray for one another only make sense in community.

  • It gives accountability and care — you are known, prayed for, and supported.

  • It witnesses to the world — when we live in covenant love, the Gospel becomes visible (John 13:34–35).

At Colonial, we believe that every person matters to God. He created each of us with purpose, for His glory, and to reflect His love in the world. The foundation of our membership covenant is rooted in what we believe about God, His Word, and His mission in the world. For our full doctrinal statement, visit What We Believe.

We exist to glorify God, follow Jesus faithfully, and live out His love together.

Becoming a member at Colonial isn’t about jumping through hoops—it’s about understanding who we are, what we believe, and what it means to walk in a covenant together. We want every person to have space to learn, ask questions, and prayerfully decide if this is where God is calling them to belong.
